With neighbors the likes of Google, Yahoo! and Amazon, AC Hotel Sunnyvale Cupertino is an obvious choice for the many business travelers that make the trek to Northern California’s Silicon Valley. But come the weekend, leisure travelers in the know roll into town to take advantage of the long list of perks the property offers modern travelers.
The hotel’s hip and stylish design is apparent the moment you enter the lobby to check in. Complete with modern furnishings, ample natural light, a library, bar, and meeting spaces that include ping pong tables, it has all the makings for a fun space to relax after a day of work or play. As part of the hotel uniform, all members of the stylish staff wear popular and sustainable allbirds shoes.
AC Hotel Sunnyvale Cupertino features 182 rooms spread across five floors. A majority of the accommodations are King guest rooms. Some Kings offer an open bathroom with a freestanding vanity, and no walls separating it from the rest of the room. Room 543 had a separate, more traditional bathroom space with four walls. As a result, the room felt a bit smaller, but the windows that took up a majority of the exterior wall boasted mountain views.
The hotel’s modern feel carries throughout the guest rooms. Dark wood furnishings with black accents, grey textured walls, and wood floors, create a clean look. The bed’s white linens pop against the upholstered headboard. Electric plugs and USB ports are easy to access from the desk and bedside tables.
The bathroom offered a vanity with a single sink. A high-tech electric mirror allows guest to adjust lighting to personal taste. In addition to a toilet, there’s a rainfall shower.
All rooms offer a coffee maker with tea supplies, and small refrigerator with bottled water. Every floor also has a hydration station stocked with glass water bottles for guests to fill and take to their rooms. The fitness center is open 24/7.
There’s no onsite full-service restaurant, but the AC Lounge located in the lobby offers happy hour service daily from 5pm to 6pm. (Sunnyvale residents with identification, enjoy happy hour prices all night.) The bar also offers a small menu with salads, small plates like warm olives and roasted mushrooms, and large shared plates including garlic chicken, and pesto rigatoni.
In the morning, the lounge space shifts gears to host a European-style breakfast buffet. Offerings include croissants, Spanish egg tarts, cheese, cereals, fresh fruit, and yogurt; a bright red Berkel meat slicer provides hand-cut Iberico prosciutto. Along with the buffet, guests can select from a couple a la carte breakfast options the likes of an open face breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, manchego cheese and La Quercia prosciutto, or eggs prepared in a cazuela with similar ingredients. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 10am, and weekends from 7am to 11am. It costs $16.
The AC Store, (also located in the lobby) is open 24/7 and offers a variety of locally made snacks and sweets, in addition to alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Need to grab a gift? There’s also a small selection of local artisan goods.
The hotel is located less than 10 miles from the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport. Levi’s Stadium, Shoreline Amphitheater, and Great America amusement park are all within a 15 minute drive.
Rates for a King guest room with a mountain view start at $149. Wi-Fi is complimentary. Self-parking is $18 a day. You can make your reservation directly online with the hotel or through an online booking site such as Expedia or Hotels.com.
